PHOTOGRAPHER'S INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Open README.TXT file in the Studio Use folder and review the information there. 2. Create a new folder on your hard drive, naming it STUDIO VIEW MASTER. Copy the contents of the CD-ROM into the new folder. DO NOT CHANGE ANY FILE NAMES. 3. Replace the sample images in the IMAGES folder with your images. Although the folder will allow 200 images, only 10 to 20 are recommended. The folder will accept JPEG or BMP files for the slideshow. Windows will only recognize BMP formated files for Desktop images. All images should be 72dpi for best display and to prevent unapproved use by your client. We suggest con- verting all of your image files to 72dpi BMP file types. Photoshop can automate the process. To use the Photoshop Droplet named "Convert to 72dpi bmp.exe" to convert your images to 72dpi BMPs: ~ Open two windows so that you can see the Photoshop droplet "Convert to 72dpi bmp.exe" located in the STUDIO USE folder, and the folder containing the images to convert. ~ Drag the folder with your images in it onto the "Convert to 72dpi bmp.exe" icon. ~ As the action runs, click SAVE and OK (or press ENTER twice) to confirm that each image is being saved in the folder of your choice. ~ Open the folder with the newly saved images, select the files and drag them into the empty IMAGES folder. Saving them into the IMAGES folder would eliminate this step. To create your own Action and Droplet: ~ Open Photoshop and Open a file. ~ Open the Actions window (Windows menu then Actions) ~ To record a new Action to save files as 72dpi .BMP format: In the Actions palette, click the New Action button. Enter a name for the action. Choose a set from the pop-up menu. Click Record. The button turns red. Go to IMAGE, IMAGE SIZE, change RESOLUTION to 72. Go to FILE, SAVE AS, and save the file as a BMP. Close the file. To stop recording, click the Stop button. ~ Open the FILE menu, the AUTOMATE, then CREATE DROPLET ~ Click the Choose button and designate a name and location for the Droplet ~ Select the new action from the dropdown lists ~ At Destination, choose folder from the dropdown list and Choose to select the one you want them saved to, for example, the IMAGES folder in the Studio View folder ~ Check the box for 'Override Action "Save As" Commands' ~ Click OK to save the Droplet ~ Leave Photoshop and drag the icon for the folder where your images are onto the icon for the Droplet you've created. This launches Photoshop and runs the action. ~ For further information about Actions, Droplets or automating tasks, refer to the PhotoShop Help files 4. Replace the logo in the LOGO Folder with your own 72 dpi bmp format file. Name your file "logo.bmp", without quotes. For best results, use a black field around your Logo. It will display at the begining of the slide show. 5. You can replace the music provided in the MUSIC folder with your own .wav files. The folder must contain two .wav files that are named "1.wav" and "2.wav". You can replace none, one, or both of the supplied .wav files. You can also copy the same song two times, renaming them 1 and 2. The songs play in order during the slideshow. 6. Test the program on your PC by clicking the STUDIO VIEW icon. 7. Write a new CD for your client with all files, except the STUDIO USE folder. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

PC COMPATABILITY:

The slideshow, screensaver and desktop image will only function on PCs. However, steps 1-5 and 7 (above) can be performed on a MAC if desired. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

AUTOPLAY OPTION:

Your client's CD will not AUTOPLAY when the CD is loaded. They will need to click the Studio View icon also. If you wish to enable AUTOPLAY for your client, you will need to rearrange a few files. ~ Go to the Studio View Master folder you created ~ Open the Support Files folder ~ Select all files in the folder ~ Copy all ~ Go back up a level to the Studio View Master folder ~ Paste the files from the Support Files folder into the Studio View Master folder ~ Delete the Support Files folder Moving the files to this level allows the CD to AUTOPLAY when it is loaded. While this is convenient for the client, it means the program will be running from the CD-ROM. Most clients will still want to copy the folder to the hard drive, both for performance and future use. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

TEMPLATES:

Sample templates for making a CD label and Jewel cases insert for your client have been included in the STUDIO USE folder. We've used Avery products for this task, but you can use whatever you wish. Our templates open in Avery DesignPro. Download it for free at: http://www.avery.com/us/downloads/software/averydesignproLimitedrc7.exe We have used product #8693 and #8931. The software is easy to use if you're familiar with other Windows-based programs. Simply replace our placeholders with your own information. Delete any placeholders you don't intend to replace. These instructions are included in the template layout and are intended for the end user: ________________________________________________________________ CLIENT'S INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Load the CD. 2. If the program does not AUTOPLAY, launch it by clicking the STUDIO VIEW icon. 3. If you wish to access the program without the CD, you'll need to move it to your hard drive.
